Our Founder Master Moy Lin-shin
1931-1998 Master Moy Lin-shin, the Founder of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society, was heir to the practices of the traditional Chinese internal arts. His teachings combine an extensive knowledge of the Taoist classics with training he received from respected teachers in China and Hong Kong.
As a youth, Master Moy was afflicted with serious health problems. He recovered his health through his study of Tai Chi (taijiquan), Lok Hup Ba Fa (liuhebafa), Taoist meditation and other traditional internal arts. Master Moy understood the great potential to improve health and alleviate suffering by the practice of these disciplines. He vowed to make these arts available to all who wished to learn them. To do so, he developed the Taoist Tai Chi† internal art of taijiquan, an art which brings together the many insights Master Moy learned about the workings of human physiology, internal circulation and spiritual training.
Master Moy emigrated to Canada in 1970, where he founded the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada and subsequently the International Taoist Tai Chi Society. He devoted the remainder of his life to fulfilling the Society’s objectives by helping many people restore and maintain their health through practice of the internal arts that he taught. Master Moy was careful to point out that these teachings were more than just a set of movements; they encompassed practical wisdom for living, drawing upon the richness of Chinese culture and the Taoist tradition.
