Plus de 1600 sacs d'offrandes sont préparés pour les défunts. Ils sont remplis de plus de 220 000 pièces de monnaie en papier pliées par de nombreux bénévoles.

Selon les croyances traditionnelles taoïstes, l’âme du défunt continue d’avoir besoin des soins du monde des vivants.

Dans les temples bouddhistes et taoïstes du monde entier, durant la première moitié du 7e mois lunaire, a lieu le Festival de toutes les âmes; les portes du royaume des morts s’ouvrent pour que les âmes des défunts puissent recevoir des offrandes.
